Play Your PC Games Anywhere – Xbox App Gains Local Streaming Support
Last year, Microsoft introduced a new feature for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers called “Stream Your Own Game” , giving players the ability to stream games they already own — not just titles available through the Game Pass library.
Previously available on Xbox consoles , Meta Quest VR headsets , smart TVs , and web browsers , this feature is now making its way to the Xbox app on Windows PCs , offering more flexibility and convenience for gamers.
🎮 Streaming Comes to the Xbox Windows App
Starting today, Xbox Insiders using the PC Gaming Preview version of the Xbox app can begin streaming their personal game libraries. All that’s required is an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription .
According to Anu Reddy , Senior Product Manager at Xbox:
“This saves time, conserves hard drive space, and gives you more flexible access to your library through cloud gaming.”
One of the biggest advantages of this update is that it even supports console-exclusive games that were previously unplayable via the Xbox app on PC.
📈 Growing List of Supported Games
Since its launch with around 50 compatible titles, the number of supported games has grown steadily. Currently, more than 250 Xbox titles are playable via the “Stream Your Own Game” feature through cloud gaming — and Microsoft promises more are coming.
The company also noted that over time, users can expect to see:
- More console-only games
- Additional Xbox Play Anywhere titles
added to the service, expanding what’s available to stream.
