Opera GX has introduced several new features aimed at boosting productivity
Opera GX, the browser designed for gamers, has rolled out a new update packed with productivity-enhancing features it calls “browser boosters.” This release introduces Split View , Tab Islands , and Bluesky integration directly in the sidebar.
The update makes multitasking easier with side-by-side tab viewing — just drag a tab to the edge of the screen to split the window. For those who juggle many tabs, the new “tab traces” feature highlights recently visited pages, helping you quickly jump back to where you were.
Another major addition is Tab Islands , which lets users group related tabs into collapsible sections and customize them with emojis for faster visual recognition. These groups can be expanded or collapsed as needed, keeping your workspace cleaner and more organized.
Also new is built-in access to Bluesky , integrated into the browser’s sidebar — a move Opera describes as a way to keep up with everything from “boomer paranoia to billionaire blame shifting.”
Most of the features are live for all users, though Tab Islands and emoji grouping are currently available under the “Early Bird” toggle in the settings. You can download the latest Opera GX update from the official website.
If Opera GX’s gaming style isn’t your thing, Opera One also recently received an update featuring AI-powered tab management and other usability improvements.
