Microsoft has shut down one of its last remaining physical retail stores
Once home to a global chain of retail stores, Microsoft shut down all of them in 2020 due to the pandemic and later replaced a few with Experience Centers — interactive spaces focused more on product demos, support, and events than direct sales.
Originally, there were four such centers: two in the U.S. (New York City and Redmond), one in London, and one in Sydney. The London location closed earlier this year, and now the Sydney center has permanently shut its doors , with Microsoft confirming the closure on its website.
The only two remaining Experience Centers are located at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington , and the popular 5th Avenue store in New York City . These locations still offer hands-on experiences with Surface devices, Xbox consoles, and other products, along with workshops and customer support services.
At this time, Microsoft hasn’t announced any plans to close these final two centers.
