Microsoft Flight Simulator City Update 11 Brings Enhanced Visuals to Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island
Back in April, fans of Microsoft Flight Simulator enjoyed a major visual refresh covering five U.S. cities. Now, the next chapter has arrived — City Update 11: Northeastern United States II , which brings even more detailed scenery to four key states: Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island .
This latest update focuses on delivering a more realistic and immersive flying experience across some of the most historically rich and densely populated areas of the country.
What’s New in City Update 11
The update enhances a variety of well-known locations, including:
- Boston and Plymouth in Massachusetts
- Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York
- And many other notable landmarks across the region
Each area has been carefully rebuilt using high-resolution aerial and satellite imagery , digital elevation models (DEMs) , and TIN (triangulated irregular network) surface texturing — all aimed at creating a more accurate and visually engaging environment for pilots.
According to the development team:
“This update comprises a spectacular mix of locations throughout this storied region of the United States, including portions of New England, one of the most important heritage areas in the nation. City Update 11 invites exploration throughout the sights of this historically renowned part of America, where each flight is filled with expansive vistas and intriguing landmarks.”
How to Get the Update
City Update 11: Northeastern United States II is now available as a free optional download via the in-game marketplace in both:
- Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Make sure your game version meets the minimum requirements:
- Flight Simulator 2020 : v1.38.2.0 or newer
- Flight Simulator 2024 : v1.3.23.0 or newer
- Flight Simulator 2024 (PC/Steam) : v1.3.25.0 or newer
