Microsoft Edge 136 Rolls Out with Enhanced Copilot Integration and Bug Fixes

Microsoft has released Edge version 136.0.3240.92 to the Stable Channel, introducing updates to the new tab page and delivering several important bug fixes .

As part of this update, users will now see more productivity-focused Copilot prompts near the search bar. Additionally, a new Copilot button has been added, allowing users to send their current search query directly to Microsoft Copilot — enhancing AI-powered assistance right from the start page. These features are rolling out gradually across all Edge channels.

What’s Fixed in Edge 136:

  • Fixed an issue where certain extensions that open windows were being paused when minimized.
  • Resolved a bug causing the Microsoft Defender Application Guard window to close unexpectedly after one minute.
  • Addressed rendering issues in PDFs containing Japanese fonts, including missing text display.

Edge Beta Gets Web Content Filtering for Schools and SMBs

In addition, Edge 137.0.3296.39 is now available in the Beta Channel. It includes the same Copilot enhancements plus a new feature announced at Microsoft Build 2025 : Web Content Filtering (WCF) .

This tool allows IT administrators in educational institutions and small-to-medium businesses to easily block inappropriate websites by selecting predefined categories — enabling broad content control with minimal effort.

The WCF feature is currently in public preview , and more details can be found in the official documentation .
