Google has launched a new Pixel 9 Pro ad that takes a sarcastic stance on rumors that the iPhone 17 design borrows elements from the Pixel. The video, released May 6, continues the company’s #BestPhonesForever campaign, featuring iPhones and Pixels “talking” about their features.

In the video, iPhone discusses rumors of a new camera design reminiscent of the Pixel’s horizontal bar, and acknowledges that Apple often introduces features later than Google. Examples include Night Sight (iPhone’s Night Mode), Magic Eraser (Clean Up), and widgets that were introduced on Android years before iOS. Google emphasizes that the iPhone 17, due out in 2025, could be “inspired” by the Pixel.

Reactions on social media, including X, range from support for Google’s wit to accusations that it ignores its own borrowings from Apple.
