Google Begins Rolling Out May 2025 Update for Pixel Devices
Google has started rolling out its May 2025 software update for supported Pixel smartphones and tablets , bringing performance improvements, bug fixes, and critical security updates.
Arriving just ahead of Google I/O — the company’s annual developer conference — this update is based on Android 15 and includes enhancements across several Pixel models.
What’s New & Fixed
The latest update addresses several known issues, including:
- Fixes for Bluetooth pairing problems with certain smartwatches
- Improved microphone audio quality in select apps
- Resolved an issue where the secondary language appeared incorrectly in Quick Settings
Security Enhancements
Alongside these fixes, the update delivers over two dozen security patches for Google and Android services. One notable fix is for a zero-day vulnerability , CVE-2025-27363 , which Google says may be under “limited, targeted exploitation.”
As part of its ongoing efforts to keep devices secure, Google also reinforced anti-rollback protections for Pixel 6, 6a, and Pixel 8 series devices. The bootloader has been updated to prevent users from reverting to older, vulnerable versions of Android 15 once the update is installed.
