Early Signs Suggest the Galaxy S25 Edge Isn’t a Top Seller

Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S25 Edge , was meant to be more than just another smartphone — it was a design experiment that could have shifted the direction of the entire Galaxy S lineup. With its slim profile and refined look, the Edge was positioned as a potential replacement for the traditionally underperforming Plus model.

However, early reports suggest that the phone is not selling as expected , raising concerns about whether Samsung accurately read consumer preferences.

According to industry insiders, new smartphones typically experience strong sales during their first few months on the market. But despite launching at the end of May, the S25 Edge has underperformed , leading Samsung to reportedly lower production targets for the device.

🔄 Could the Edge Replace the Plus?

For years, the Plus variant has consistently lagged behind its siblings in sales — a trend observed again this year and in previous generations. That led to speculation that Samsung might phase out the Plus entirely and make the Edge the standard larger model in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series .

But based on current performance, that move may not be viable — at least not yet. Whether Samsung will change course by 2026 or give the Edge concept another chance remains to be seen.

📦 Focus Shifts to Foldables

While the company rethinks its flagship strategy, attention is also turning to its foldable lineup. According to reports from The Elec , Samsung plans to front-load production of the Galaxy Z7 foldables , especially for the US market.

The company now aims to manufacture 600,000 units this month , up from an initial plan of 400,000. This increase is likely a strategic move to avoid upcoming tariffs that could raise the cost of devices sold in the US.

As a result, global availability might be slightly delayed this month, with production expected to ramp up again in July . Originally, Samsung planned to produce 1.34 million foldables , including around 630,000 Galaxy Z Fold7 units .
