Classic SEGA Games Are Now Available for Free on iOS and Android

SEGA is quietly pulling the plug on several classic games available through its mobile app stores, but there’s a silver lining: the affected titles are now free to download — at least for the time being.

Users who have previously purchased or played these retro ports, many of which were released under the now-defunct SEGA Forever program, recently noticed a new message upon launching some titles. The notification reads:

“Support for this game will be discontinued, but you can continue playing offline! If you’d like to learn more about great SEGA games to play, please click the link below.”

This change suggests that while online support and future updates may no longer be coming, those who already own the games can keep playing them without issue. And for others, now is the perfect time to grab them before they potentially vanish from the App Store and Google Play Store.

📲 Why This Matters

While SEGA has not issued an official statement about the move, it’s clear that the company is winding down support for certain older mobile ports. This isn’t the first time SEGA has pulled games from digital storefronts, and history shows that once a title is delisted, it often disappears for good.

However, the fact that these games are now free to download indicates that SEGA may be trying to give fans one last chance to enjoy them before full removal.

Previously, these games cost around $2 each , or required in-app purchases to unlock full content. Now, players can get them with no upfront cost — though ads and optional in-app purchases still apply.

💾 What Happens Next?

Even though SEGA hasn’t confirmed whether these games will be removed from the stores entirely, the trend is clear: if you want to keep them in your library, download them now .

Once unlisted, even previously owned copies may become harder to reinstall — especially if store pages disappear or servers shut down completely.

So if you’re a fan of retro gaming or just looking to relive some childhood memories, don’t wait too long. These classics might not stay free — or available — forever.
