AI Servers in Space
China successfully launched 12 satellites on May 14, marking the beginning of an ambitious network of 2,800 space-based artificial intelligence (AI) computing vehicles. The Long March 2D rocket blasted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
The project, called the Three-Body Constellation, is being implemented by the startup ADA Space and Zhejiang Lab. For the first time in the world, satellites will process data directly in orbit, reducing dependence on ground-based computing centers. This will allow for faster analysis of information, for example, for scientific research or monitoring the Earth.
The satellites are equipped with AI to process large amounts of data in real time. The project could have economic and military potential, increasing competition with the US, where similar technologies are only being tested. SoftStone and Kep Metrix are partners, providing the ground infrastructure for the AI.Source: spacenews
