Apple and Anthropic are creating an AI assistant for programming
Apple is partnering with Anthropic to develop a new version of Xcode, its development environment, with an integrated AI assistant for “vibe coding.” As reported by iClarified, the tool uses Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet model to help programmers write, edit, and test code. The system is currently being tested internally, and Apple has not decided whether it will be made available to third-party developers.
At its core is a method in which AI generates code based on natural language queries, simplifying tasks such as testing interfaces and finding bugs. The new Xcode includes a chat interface where developers can request changes or create code, speeding up the development process.
It’s a move by Apple to modernize its workflows, especially after the failure of its own AI tool Swift Assist, which suffered from “hallucinations” – the generation of incorrect code.
Apple is already partnering with OpenAI (ChatGPT for Siri) and plans to integrate Google Gemini. If the tool proves effective, it could appear at WWDC on June 9.Source: iclarified
